For Women and Cadets, there is no minima for the national (senior) championships. So I went to compete during my ‘lifting vacation’ period, weighed what I weighed, lifted what I lifted. And since Anna took a similar methodology and moved up, I was alone in my category of -75kg, and therefore became Belgian senior champ in that weight class. Go figure. Good news is I came fourth out of six, and the two I did better than are also both younger than I am. 🙂
We had 24 athletes, two plateaus, lots of small disagreements and bickering. Nothing new there, it is a odd and dysfunctional family at best. 😉
Popped several bits of rib and vertebrae out on my last (power) snatch, did the clean and jerk anyway. I got emergency repair this morning as I could not lift my right arm. Got to love lifting!
Here are a few photos for those who are interested – enjoy! Now on vacation, next comp is in mid February 2014. Yay! Note: I did 11 competitions this year, should put me on the ‘she is really crazy’ list. I am scheduled to do my IWF Level 2 referee exam next month at a competition in The Netherlands.
