Women’s Open – Ireland – CrossFit West Dublin – Sat. 17th August 2013

When I went to Austria in May for the “ASVÖ – NÖ” Women Weightlifting Grand Prix, I met a lovely bunch of lady lifters from Ireland, and they mentioned that they were having an Open in August.  I said I was interested, and they sent me the info.  So we went for a long weekend to Dublin, and lifted in their 2nd annual Women’s Open competition with 25 ladies lifting at CrossFit West Dublin. Thanks to Dee Lynch, the Women’s Development Officer of Weightlifting Ireland, for sending me the details and letting me lift with them.  (She is on the far left of the group photo below.)

It was fun, and I met some truly terrific folks.  Because I was relaxed and having fun, I did fairly well, got 4 for 6 with a decent total.  I came first place in the -75kg class, and 4th out of 25 overall.   ALL of them were younger than me. 🙂  I was made to feel very welcome, with classic Irish hospitality.

Photos below.  A big shout-out to my buddy Holly Deegan who won best lifter. She and Mary (in the long socks) are seated in the group shot in the front with the trophy.  Holly helped coach me in Austria, and is standing next to me in the group Introduction photo.

Next up, the Flemish champs in Sept, followed by the Belgian Masters.
